Rick Perry’s Son Makes Fun Of Rick Santorum’s Sweater Vests

Watch out, y’all: Griffin Perry has jokes.

The son of GOP presidential nomination seeker Gov. Rick Perry laughingly called his father’s opponent Rick Santorum to task for his biggest fashion decision: to wear basically nothing but v-neck sweater vests. The younger Perry tweeted:

It’s an esoteric joke, but let us explain. Jim Tressel used to be the coach of The Ohio State University football team, which has had a longstanding rivalry with basically every SEC football program. (And before he resigned for scandalously letting his players sell team memorbilia for drugs and spending money, Tressel wore a lot of sweater vests, too.) Now that Perry and Santorum are both heading for the South Carolina primary, which has historically decided the GOP nominee, Griff is framing his dad as the SEC and Santorum as Ohio State. (Author’s note: As an SEC graduate I feel it is worth mentioning that OSU hasn’t beaten a school in our conference since in a bowl game since like the late 1800s. Again, just an FYI.)

So that’s what Griff is saying: Santorum’s gonna have an uphill battle against his dear old dad. We’ll see if he’s right on January 21.
