To celebrate Guess‘ 30th anniversary in the business, the company is bringing back one of their original Guess girls for a new campaign, Claudia Schiffer!
Photographer Ellen von Unwerth drew inspiration from Schiffer’s iconic 1989 ad in which she wears a lace bustier, hoop earrings, and perfectly tousled locks. The new ads exude the same sex appeal, with Schiffer leaning against a scooter in a jacket, bustier, and tight skinny jeans.
Guess’s chief executive office and creative director, Paul Marciano, told WWD that Schiffer played a huge role in the company’s success:
“She was a turning point of Guess, she was a turning point of Ellen’s career, Guess was a turning point of a life for Claudia”.
Schiffer is also excited to work with the company that shot her to fame:
“Guess will always have a soft spot in my heart, and I’m excited that 23 years later we can still work together so successfully,” she said. “Shooting the Guess 30th anniversary campaign was like going back in time. It brought back so many great memories and has been a lot of fun working together again with Ellen and Paul.”
In addition to the ad campaign, Guess is designing a 15-piece collection that feature outfits that were modeled by former Guess girls, like screenprinted tees of Anna Nicole Smith, cut-off jeans modeled by Adriana Lima, a gingham top worn by Eva Herzigova, and, of course, the bustier in Schiffer’s new ad. The collection will retail between $39 and $138 and will launch in stores and on-line on April 24.
