Harper’s Bazaa’rs May cover girl is none other than Mademoiselle GOOP herself, Gwyneth Paltrow! It’s lucky they were able to land the actress at all since, from the sounds of things, she barely made it through the harsh, unforgiving months of winter in London. Good thing she’s a resourceful kinda lady and had some tricks up her sleeve! It’s just too bad she didn’t share these a few months ago, or we may not have had to resort to so many nights of fuzzy slippers and Netflix.
As Bazaar‘s Sarah Bailey writes:
“Having survived her 10th London winter (she got through January by assigning it “international month,” and amusing Moses and his big sister, Apple, 9, with a visiting Italian chef, Japanese anime screenings, and hand-rolled-sushi lessons, no less), Paltrow admits that her dreams of relocating the family to their recently acquired residence in Brentwood, California, are becoming ever more urgent. ‘Just to have my kids be in the sun every day—picking avocados, going for a swim,’ she says. ‘Even for two years or something, and come back when they go to senior school.'”
That does sound pretty idyllic, although visiting chefs and private screenings (in a decked out home theatre, no doubt) aren’t quite what we’d call dire straits.
The cover marks Paltrow’s second in just over a year, the first being the debut of the mag’s stunning redesign, but while last year the glossy employed their mainstay lensman Terry Richardson, this time around Daniel Jackson is behind the photos. In the smiley, windswept photo, the blonde wears a Balenciaga bustier — and if it looks at all familiar, that may be because Kristen Stewart donned it fresh off the runway in November. For what it’s worth, we think Paltrow wore it best.
And in case you think the actress’ existence is all vegan lunches and aerial yoga, you may be surprised to learn one other thing from the article: Gwynnie actually lives her life just like Jay-Z, yo:
“I don’t hold on to fear as much as I used to, because I’ve learned a lot about genuinely not caring what strangers think about me. It’s very liberating. It’s very empowering, and I’ve learned a lot of that from Jay—Shawn Carter—Z, because his approach to life is very internal. It’s a very good lesson to learn.”

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
