BREAKING: YSL To Confirm Hedi Slimane As Creative Director

It appears that at least one game of fashion house musical chairs is coming to an end. According to The New York Times’ Suzy Menkes, YSL will not only announce Stefano Pilati‘s replacement on Wednesday, but confirm that it is indeed Hedi Slimane.

YSL announced Pilati’s departure last week, though it’s been rumored for almost a year now, and Slimane has long been considered a frontrunner for the role.

Menkes writes:

Hedi Slimane will be named on Wednesday as the new creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, according to a senior executive at YSL’s parent company, PPR, who has followed Mr. Slimane’s career in the world of artistic photography.

Menkes’ source asked to remain anonymous until after the announcement.

Slimane’s name has also been bandied about the Dior role, though this would take him firmly out of the running.
