This is the stuff lifetime achievement awards are made of. Word has it that Marc Jacobs, fresh from winning perhaps the coolest CFDA award earlier this week, picked actress Helena Bonham Carter to be the face of his fall campaign.
Bonham Carter appeared in a photo posted on photographer Juergen Teller‘s Tumblr earlier this week, wearing a pink sequined dress and a pillbox hat from Jacobs’ fall collection. The photo is a typical Jacobs ad, with its slightly odd choice of model (remember those ads with Dakota Fanning a few years ago?) and grainy blurriness. All it needs to be magazine ready is the brand’s logo and URL.
While Bonham Carter might not be known for having the best style, she is definitely known for her eccentric sartorial choices. She accessorized the dress she wore to this year’s Oscars with a small British flag tied to her garter. It’s exactly that kind of offbeat charm we’ve come to expect from Jacobs’ advertising. Well played, Marc. Well played indeed.
