It’s no secret that for most people, the grass is always greener. Short people wish they were taller, tall people wish they were shorter, and people named Hillary Clinton wish they had Tim Geithner’s hair. We wish we were joking.
Hat tip to New York Mag’s Daily Intel blog for catching this gem, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a guest on the equivalent of China’s Oprah while in the country last week — and joining her was Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. In order to give the two something to talk about, the producers of the show took them through a slideshow of old photos — one of which featured a seemingly tender moment between the two.
QUESTION: What were you talking about?
SECRETARY CLINTON: I think I was complimenting him on his hair.
SECRETARY CLINTON: He always looks so good, you know? It’s maddening. It takes me so much longer, and it doesn’t even look as good.
While Geithner certainly has a full head, we’re not sure we’d trade Hillary’s hair for his. To each his (and her!) own, though, we suppose.
While we’re at it, Clinton offers up a few additional thoughts on the topic as well:
SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, you know, me and hair. I mean, it’s always something that is the easiest thing to change. Everything else is too hard, but hair you can change. You can cut it, you can grow it, you can — in that case, I had — that’s kind of an old permanent, because you can tell I had very straight hair. But I decided I would see what it was like being curly. And that didn’t last too long.
They never do. They never do.
