PHOTOS: H&M Reveals Sketches For Sweden’s Olympic Uniforms

We had serious withdrawal symptoms after the London Olympics ended, but we’re already excited for the 2014 and 2016 games in Sochi, Russia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil respectively. One of the things we look forward to most at the Olympics are the opening and closing outfits worn by the athletes. Now, H&M has announced that it’s designing outfits for Sweden’s Olympic and Paralympic teams at both summer events.

The brand is taking on a four-year deal to design the opening and closing ceremony ensembles, relaxed loungewear that athletes can wear around the Olympic Village, and training uniforms. The outfits are being developed with input and feedback from Swedish Olympians. Head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson said:

“It is such an honour for H&M to dress both the Swedish Olympians and Paralympians for the upcoming games in Sochi and Rio. The designs will bring together sport and fashion in a totally new way and have Swedish heritage as a proud influence of the collection.”

We’ve no doubt that H&M will make Sweden look ready for the track and chill time, but hopefully the team over at H&M will learn from Ralph Lauren’s mistake and have the clothes manufactured in Sweden, instead of outsourcing them to, say, China.
