Sometimes you just know you’re going to be ace at something before you even start, which is probably how Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin secretly felt when they signed on to create a capsule collection for cult jewelry brand Ten Thousand Things.
The inimitable and inseparable, fashion and Gaga-lensing power couple was inspired to create the collection after shooting a portrait series for V magazine last year. Titled ‘Let Love Adorn You’, it featured Susan Sarandon, Liya Kebede, Olivier Theyskens and other daunting names in one-of a kind-pieces that were afterwards auctioned for charity.
This collection will feature 200 pieces that all stemmed from something equally heart-melting – a single necklace Vinoodh created for Inez following their philanthropic portrait series. The necklace, fashioned from black oxidized silver, features a star pendan,t intertwined replicas of their wedding rings, and has spawned other pieces using different stones. The necklaces will be sold exclusively at Barneys and Net-a-Porter from September.
It’s modeled below on the couple’s friends, NYC fashion scene linchpins Leigh Lezark, Geordon Nicol and Greg Krelenstein of The Misshapes. This initial campaign image also pretty much tells us that buying and layering multiple necklaces is a necessity, as is wearing them with cut-out leather bondage bras. Wedding rings have never looked so sexy.
