The nipple’s been having an important moment, but Facebook’s cooler, younger cousin is still decidedly not down with Rihanna‘s. Instagram says deleting her whole account was their computer’s fault, and they freed her account. But it’s down again.
If any of her 12.4 million followers try to get their daily window into a brief glorious Rihanna moment now, a Page Not Found message will come up.
The apology Instagram issued last week was this:
“This account was mistakenly caught in one of our automated systems and very briefly disabled. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Inconvenience? You took her away and the world is less enriched for it. Where is her post-Met Gala DGAF stare? A computer shut it down, according to Instagram.
Alison Schumer, an employee on Instagram’s public relations team, told the Daily Mail, “Yesterday, we briefly disabled the account by mistake and restored it quickly. I can confirm that we have not deleted the account subsequently.”
By omitting any mention of her nips and their decision to kick them off the platform they’re saying they can and will exercise their power to bounce individual topless photos. It’s likely that they know exactly what they’re doing, and the nipple will remain prisoner to a lifeless computer they can blame everything on.
