As slow as August is, it is good for one thing: tons and tons of September issue rollouts. Today we have some international editions that are chock full of supermodels. But which one is best?
When we saw Heidi Klum and Natalia Vodianova in Marc Jacobs‘ fall 2011 collection (complete with bellhop hats) against white backgrounds and boldly colored cover lines, we assumed they posed for different covers of the same magazine. Wrong! Heidi fronts Harper’s Bazaar Russia, while Natalia snagged Vogue Deutsch. (We fashion nerds can’t help but point out that Heidi is German and Natalia is Russian. Cultural exchange!)
A trio of models covers Vogue España — Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, and Claudia Schiffer. They’re in those now-ubiquitous Dolce & Gabbana star frocks, and Claudia’s wearing socks with heels! All of these things would make you think this is a cover we love, but we don’t. First of all, it seems a bit unbalanced (shouldn’t they all be shifted over to the right a bit?). Secondly, it seems crazily airbrushed. Look at Helena’s cheekbones! Admittedly, it’s a bad scan, so the contrast is off. But still, something just isn’t quite right.
Which cover do you like best?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
