When you think Iris Apfel, two things come to mind: jewelry and glasses. The 90-year-old has embarked on a slew of jewelry collaborations as of late — with HSN, Alexis Bittar, and Yoox — and now she’s getting into the eyewear game.
Apfel is teaming up with eyebobs to design a collection of midrange reading glasses, sun readers, and polarized sunglasses to be released in 2013. Can’t wait that long? The company is releasing a limited edition frame inspired by the icon this spring. It’s called the Iris, and comes in three different colors. (We’re partial to the two-tone red version.) The best part may be that the proceeds benefit one of Apfel’s favorite causes, vision loss charity Lighthouse International.
