We have a real soft spot for J.Crew but their latest purse — and its incredibly luxe price tag — seems a little outrageous.
The Collection Edie Alligator bag is based on the original Edie, a small, boxy crossbody with antiqued hardware and a detachable strap that retails for $238. The latest iteration features the same design elements but with the addition of a “luxe alligator flap”.
The bags come in three colors, and will be available at the J. Crew’s Madison Avenue flagship store. Only nine were made, but for the cool price of $1,500, we can’t help but wonder if they’ll actually sell. Then again, maybe Karl said it best this morning: luxury isn’t what people need, but what “people want”.
With several designer collaborations under its belt and the ever-so-cool Jenna Lyons at the helm, J.Crew has continuously gotten more fashion-forward — and subsequently, more expensive. But is this bag too much?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
