Evidence that The Hunger Games is going to be a transatlantic hit of epic proportions: Its star, Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence, is on the cover of both the British and American editions of Glamour‘s April issue.
Both of the covers are good, fresh, springy affairs — which is exactly what you want to see on newsstands in March and April. The UK edition has a number of different covers, but the one we’ve seen most often features Lawrence wearing a ruffly shouldered Valentino gown and looking directly into the camera. On the American cover, Lawrence is sitting in a grassy field wearing a gold sequined tank top and a white skirt.
The photos themselves are lovely, but that’s not why we think these dual covers are so significant. The last time we can remember one actress getting the cover of more than one international edition of the same magazine in the same month was in the September of 2010, when Julia Roberts was promoting the release of Eat, Pray, Love. She appeared on basically every international edition of Elle. While Lawrence’s covers aren’t as numerous as all that, it’s still a pretty rare strategy. Normally when an actor is promoting a movie, their people try to secure as many different covers as possible, not different versions of the same one. We wonder if this strategy will be as effective.
Take a look at Lawrence’s two glamorous covers below and tell us what you think.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
