We were pretty excited when we heard that German designer Jil Sander was returning to her eponymous label. Her spring 2013 menswear show was well-received, and she remained true to her minimalist aesthetic. She seemed ready to make a big return back to womenswear as well, but the designer just retracted her name from the Milan Fashion Week calendar.
Instead of putting on a traditional show during Milan Fashion Week, Sander is holding two independent shows, reports WWD. Milan Fashion Week runs from September 19 to 25, but most shows are packed between the 19 and 23 because Italian designers and houses fear that editors and buyers will head to Paris before the Milan shows end. The shortened timeframe is a result of tense scheduling between the Italian Chamber of Fashion and Paris’s Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
