Joan Smalls Is The First Black Model To Cover Vogue Italia In Four Years

Congratulations to Joan Smalls, who not only snagged her first cover of Vogue Italia, but has the dubious honor of being the first model of color to grace the glossy’s front page since their “all black” issue in 2008.

Shot by Steven Meisel, Smalls is modeling some serious earrings, some sick rainbow tiger-striped nail art, and the craziest eyeshadow we’ve ever seen on a Vogue cover. Speaking of Vogue covers, how many other editors do you think would slap a hashtag across the front of their magazines? Your move, Anna.
