Now the designer himself is confirming that he and J.Crew are indeed working on together.
Altuzarra gave Fashionista the inside scoop, saying he thinks the collab “will be coming out in a few weeks”.
We can’t say we’re surprised. Last year J. Crew teamed up with CFDA/Fashion Fund honorees Eddie Borgo, Billy Reid, and Prabal Gurung. It was only a matter of time before Altuzarra, who snagged the award in November, would work on a project with the retailer.
While mum’s the word about the details of the capsule collection, we assume runners up Pamela Love and Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind are also working with J.Crew. Regardless, we’re excited to see a mash-up of Altuzarra’s sexy tailoring and J. Crew’s preppy style. (Did you see his sailor-inspired fall collection?) As he explained:
“Well, it was a really interesting project because it was like a conflation of their language — or of their world — [and] of our world and putting it together. And I think that was really interesting for me to work on.”
