Juergen Teller Refused to Shoot Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs

You might have been too melancholy to notice, what with Miley Cyrus’ gloomy presence looming and all, but in addition to his choice of campaign star, there’s something very different about this latest Marc Jacobs ad: It was shot by David Sims and not regular collaborator Juergen Teller.

As soon as we became privy to this information, we hypothesized as to whether there was an innocent reason as to why Teller couldn’t get behind the lens or if there were some kind of juicy conflict. We were not-so-secretly hoping for the latterer, and have now learned straight from the horse’s mouth that it was, in fact, the case.

“I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist,” Jacobs told WWD regarding the new campaign. “He just didn’t want to shoot her.”

Damn, you have to love a photographer who won’t compromise his artistic integrity for anyone — even Marc Jacobs. All we have to say is respect, because he seems to be the only fashion industry individual unwilling to go Team Miley. Minus Anna Wintour, of course.
