PHOTOS: Emerging Designer Julien David Snags ANDAM Prize

Congratulations to up-and-comer Julien David, who was selected as the winner of the 2012 ANDAM Prize yesterday!

A graduate of Parsons, David launched his label in Japan in 2008. The designer has since worked for fashion greats Narciso Rodriguez and Ralph Lauren, and has also shown his label in Paris. With the €230,000 (or $282,500) grand prize, David will have the funds to really establish himself in the French market. But he’s well on his way, as his line is already sold at too-cool Paris boutique Colette, as well as too-cool New York-based Opening Ceremony.

In the press release that announced him as the winner, David said:

“I feel very honored to be part of the fellowship winners’ list of the prestigious ANDAM Grand Prix and to get closer to the French industry for the development of my future collections.”

ANDAM is a French fashion incubator that awards a yearly prize to an emerging designer to help them secure themselves in the industry. David joins the ranks of former winners Giles Deacon, Gareth Pugh, and Anthony VaccarelloPriscilla and Deborah Royer and Virigine Muys of knitwear brand Pièce d’Anarchive were named runners up.
