He’s not naked, but he’s certainly covered in lipstick — which means at least half of our prediction for Justin Bieber’s then rumored Vanity Fair cover was spot on. Teased by the cover question, “Is this the adorable inescapable face of 2011?”, Bieber’s issue of the mag hits stands on Thursday, but the photos are already here — as are behind-the-scenes video and some absurdly quotable soundbites from the Biebs himself. Not lacking for confidence, this one.
VF.com opens their teaser with this bit from Bieber:
“I’m crazy, I’m nuts,” Justin Bieber tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Lisa Robinson. “Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently—my mind is always racing. I’m just … nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.”
Which is followed up by a thoughtful musing on his legions of female fans:
Bieber tells Robinson that he knows girls scream for him because he’s Justin Bieber, but he thinks they might also scream for him because he’s cute. “Not trying to be arrogant, but if I walked down the street and a girl saw me, she might take a look back because maybe I’m good-looking, right?”
Right. Anyway! Despite Bieber’s “inescapable” fame, he’s still an interesting choice for the mag, which has a penchant for putting dead people on its covers, though that tendency might explain why they shot Bieber in a pair of Buddy Holly-esque glasses and surrounded by girls in poodle skirts. And while we know his hair is kind of his thing, is there some sort of contractual stipulation which says magazines are not allowed to mess with it? We never thought we’d say this, but what we’d give for a faux-hawk or, at the very least, a Mad Men-style side part.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
