The family that licences its name together will go to court together in a lawsuit in response to Star magazine, which yesterday published an expose claiming that the Chinese factories that make some of the Kardashians clothing and shoes are sweatshops that use child labor. The family and its business partners have since denied this — and vehemently so — but now they’re taking it one step further and suing everyone involved in the accusations.
TMZ reports the family’s legal team is getting ready to unleash a libel suit against the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, the organization that “verified the facts” of the horrible working conditions inside the Kardashian’s Chinese factories. Kris Jenner is apparently furious that the group made this claim in such a public way, especially considering that it had no evidence to back it up. Yesterday, IGLHR executive director Charles Kernaghan admitted that he had never been to the factories that produce the Kardashian lines — and you can hear him say so in the video below.
We don’t know whose side the law will favor, but without cold hard facts to back up their claims, Star and the IGLHR are going to have an uphill battle. Check out Kernaghan’s hand-wringing admission of being ill informed on the Kardashian factories below.
