We get that not everyone is going to be obsessed with Kate Middleton as we are, and that’s fine. But when one of her own future subjects and countrywomen is completely oblivious to her charms, it might be cause for some serious concern.
And we were concerned Friday night when we ran into singer Corinne Bailey Rae at Elle Fashion Next, who said she’s working on a new album and that she’s loving Fashion Week so far. We asked her, among other things, why she thought fashion and music were so indelibly linked.
“They’re a representation of culture,” she said. “Obviously designers learn so much from being in the street and musicians learn so much from being among other people, so I think that fashion and music are a voice that reflects the people and also inspires people.”
Good answer! And speaking of inspiring people, we couldn’t help but ask what Rae thought of the huge fashion moment Middleton is enjoying right now.
“I don’t watch TV, so I don’t know what that is. (Her publicist then broke in to remind her, “It’s the princess.”) Quoth Rae: “I know who she is, but I don’t … yeah.”
Yeah. Now, we get that Rae might have been a little pressed for time, and that because of her ubiquity, it’s pretty easy to get over Kate Middleton. But with an insult like that, we just hope the singer isn’t gunning for an OBE any time soon.
