Remember that fabled see-through dress that made Prince William fall in love with Kate Middleton? The one that designer Charlotte Todd swore she would never sell? Yeah, screw that. Now it’s totally up for sale.
Back in November, Todd said she wouldn’t sell the garment unless Kate gave her the go-ahead: “The dress is a part of fashion history — the moment William could first have fallen in love with Kate — and that makes me really proud…Maybe if it hadn’t have been see-through, William might not have noticed her. I definitely think it has a played a part in the royal love story.” Alas, the dress is going on the auction block next month in London.
The piece is expected to go for around $16,000; two of Princess Diana‘s gowns will be sold at the same auction. We’re not sure if this means Kate’s cool with the whole dress selling thing or if Todd is trying to cash in on all the royal wedding hullabaloo, but we sort of assume the latter. Lame.
