Kate Middleton has a rule of not posing for magazine covers (which we think is awesome), but that doesn’t make the glossies any less determined to have her as a cover girl. And the latest is the August cover of Marie Claire South Africa, which features a whole new side of Kate.
For the cover, the mag’s art department digitally added Kate’s head and hands to the body of a model wearing a dress from local designer Clive Rundle. Everything about the cover is so weird! Kate would never wear a dress that busy, her skin looks very plastic-y, and that’s hardly her signature pose. Her hair, however, still looks great. And thankfully, so do her teeth.
But there’s more! Inside the issue, five South African illustrators also digitally dress Kate in local and couture looks as an ode to her style. Editor Aspasia Karras explains:
“Kate Middleton is, without a doubt, the world’s new style icon. We have honoured her with a fan-art tribute, dressing her up in clothes by South African designers and placing her in all sorts of fun, everyday situations.”
