UPDATE: APRIL FOOLS!!!
Well this is a juicy one. Sources inside the magazine tell us that none other than Duchess Catherine has landed the May cover of Harper’s Bazaar. And who will document this monumental moment in fashion history? Terry Richardson, bien sur.
“Kate is really trying to shed her good girl image,” says Styleite‘s exclusive source. “She wants her first American cover to make a splash and she thought Vogue would be too mainstream and obvious.” Well, Richardson can certainly help with that.
The photographer has been plagued with accusations of misconduct on his sets in recent years, but this didn’t stop the duchess from agreeing to shoot the cover – in fact, the edgy appeal of a not-so-royalty-friendly lensman apparently drew her further in to the idea, much to her husband William’s chagrin.
Obviously this is a huge coup for Harper’s Bazaar. Middleton’s publicists have carefully dodged cover requests up until now, but our source tells us the duchess chose the magazine because of how much she loved Bazaar‘s 1997 shoot with Patrick Demarchelier and Princess Di. We don’t blame her — that spread was drop-dead gorgeous and we have no doubt this one will not disappoint, especially after the very successful redesign that debuted in the March issue.
Now that we have the cover info, we’re beyond curious: who will do the interview? What will she wear?! Will this be the standard Reiss fare, or will Kate go wild and delve into Comme des Garçons or the Maison Martin Margiela Spring collection? PLEASE tell us she will appear in full Terry regalia (plaid shirt, signature glasses, thumb in the air) on the photographer’s blog very soon.
We can’t wait to see what Bazaar has in store for us with this one.
