When Kate Middleton stepped out last month in a coat dress by the now-defunct brand Jesire, we couldn’t help but wonder how long it had been sitting in her closet. Was this a middle school purchase, newly discovered? A hand-me-down? A long-forgotten gift? Well, neither.
It turns out that Middleton’s Jesire coat was purchased at a thrift store called The Stock Exchange in Berkshire, near her family’s home in Bucklebury.
According to staff there, Kate sends in an assistant to shop for her. ‘She bought the Jesire dress from here – we remember having it in and were really excited when we saw Kate on TV wearing it,’ one shop assistant said last week. ‘None of the Middletons have ever come into the store thought, so Kate must have a secret shopper. Whoever it is, we hope she contunues shopping here!’
Grazia also notes that Sarah Ferguson used to “send one of her aides there to shop for her”. Thrifty!
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
