Anna Wintour Courts Kate Middleton For Vogue Cover

Magazine editors have been dreaming of landing Kate‘s first solo cover ever since she and Prince William announced their engagement, Anna Wintour included.

According to Page Six, the Vogue editor has enlisted Mario Testino to help get Duchess Catherine on board. Testino, of course, was responsible for the official engagement photos and attended the royal wedding as a friend of the family. An outtake of sorts from the engagement portrait session appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair.

But will Kate agree to it? She reportedly turned down a pre-wedding shoot for British Vogue, and nothing ever came of those Harper’s Bazaar rumors. That said, it’s Vogue, and Wintour has made her admiration for Kate quite clear. Regardless, a source told Page Six: “Every magazine has been trying to get Kate, and many assume it will eventually be Vogue. But even with the Mario Testino relationship, it is not clear when this will happen. The Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate.”

Even if the cover isn’t immediate, we can imagine Wintour and Vogue ultimately winning the Kate cover coup. Can you?
