The home owners association in supermodel Kate Moss‘s new neighborhood of Highgate rolled the welcome wagon back into its garage when members found out she planned to modernize her £8 million home. Now they’re up in arms saying her plans are going to ruin the area’s old charm.
Moss purchased the house, which once belonged to poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, before her wedding to rocker Jamie Hince. She’s since applied to the local community council to make an estimated £2.5 million in upgrades to the old brick house, including excavating an area underneath the house to put in a state-of-the-art gym and steam room. She also wants to have satellite dishes and security cameras wired to the exterior of the structure.
But according to The Telegraph, her neighbors have urged her not to go through with the plans, which some of them have described as “tacky.” Of course they can’t force her not to do it, but if they don’t want her to and she goes ahead with the plans, she’s going to have one unhappy bunch of carolers on her hands come the holidays.
If we were sitting in front of Moss and she asked us what to do, we’d say what we normally say to people facing situations that might have an impact on the lives they lead: “You do you.” But we’re not, so we’re curious to know what you think. Should moss roll full steam ahead with the plans if they get approved, or should she hold off until her neighbors cool down?
