We’ve been anxiously following John Galliano’s slow reemergence into the fashion world since he launched his own downward spiral in 2010 with an anti-semantic tirade that was caught on tape. Since then the shamed Dior designer has done his time, he’s spilt his now booze-free entrails to Vanity Fair and he’s had multiple almost-returns to glory, including a job at Oscar de la Renta’s and a gig designing drag costumes.
And now, here it is folks: John Galliano as British Vogue‘s special guest fashion editor, styling his model friend Kate Moss for the glossy’s December 2013 issue and her 34th turn as a cover star.
The image of Moss and Galliano was taken by Vogue photographer Tim Walker, who captured a magical Roaring Twenties-meets-Glamor Shots by Deb vibe. Featuring the model with slicked back hair and skinny eyebrows and the designer with his signature smize, it’s accompanied by a heartfelt message from the latter:
“The scene is set. I lean into Kate’s ear. ‘Can you keep a secret?’ I am now feeling so much love in this studio that it takes me back. Her only script is the dress she’s wearing.”
Mysterious, amirite? See the equally captivating and beautiful cover, which we kinda feel has been three years in the making, below.
