PHOTOS: Kate Moss Wears Couture in Vogue’s April Issue

Kate Moss stars in “Checking Out”, a gorgeous spread in this month’s Vogue showcasing the crème de la crème of January’s couture collections. The shoot evokes a modern day Marie Antoinette, with Moss cast as the extravagant queen, lounging about the Ritz in frothy dresses while her ladies in waiting clamor behind in Valentino Haute Couture.

Lensed by Tim Walker, one of our all-time favorite photographers, and styled by Grace Coddington, everyone’s all-time favorite creative director, the shoot is unapologetically opulent – a refreshing change from the magazine’s tired (and often uncomfortably exploitative) habit of photographing couture-clad models traipsing through impoverished villages. At least this tells it like it is: these are dresses meant to be worn in palaces, ballrooms, and presidential suites, if indeed they are meant to be worn at all.
