Keira Knightley‘s new period drama Anna Karenina hits theaters this November, and that means one thing — you’ll be seeing her on lots of magazine covers this fall. In the first of many, the 27-year-old actress covers Vogue‘s October issue, and in Chanel couture, no less.
Vogue‘s creative director Grace Coddington decided to stick with the movie’s late-19th century fashions for Knightley’s spread, and dressed her in couture creations by Valentino and Dior, as well as costume designer Jacqueline Durran‘s Anna Karenina pieces. The outfits in the film are pure eye candy, and Durran has even brought the elegant and opulent styles to the masses with a Banana Republic collaboration for the holiday season.
In the accompanying interview, Knightley discusses her engagement to 29-year-old rocker James Righton, taking a break from the industry after doing fifteen films in five years, and even reveals her makeup trick:
“Just use a thin mascara brush. I find with a big mascara brush, you can get a very clumpy finish.”
And now you know.
The issue will land on newsstands September 25, but check out a preview of Knightley’s spread below:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
