Kim Kardashian‘s engagement ring from fiance Kris Humphries is big. Like, crazy big. $2 million and 20.5 carats big. Yeah, BIG. But who wants to worry about wearing something that costs that much on a daily basis? Not Kim.
Yes, that’s right, Kim has allegedly decided to get a cubic zirconia “decoy” ring made, so she doesn’t have to worry about something happening to her ridiculous rock(s). A “top jeweler” is said to be designing the real-looking fake bling, which apparently will cost a pretty penny (though we’re assuming no where close to a couple million). As a source explained to Radar:
“It will be a huge weight off of Kim’s mind. Walking around wearing a ring that’s worth around half the value of her house worries her sick, but at the same time she wants to wear the ring all the time. Kim is totally in love with it, as she is Kris, and she wants to show it off. This, she believes, is the perfect solution. She will wear the real thing when she goes to special events or when she feels comfortable, but when she’s just tooling around she can wear her ‘decoy.'”
Okay, there are a few things to discuss here. First of all, isn’t that what insurance is for? Secondly, isn’t it dumb to get something that you are nervous to wear? This isn’t special occasion jewelry, this is an engagement ring that is meant to be worn on the daily. And isn’t an engagement ring supposed to be sentimental? What’s the point of wearing a fake version of your real ring? So many questions. Sigh.
Anyway, in case you forgot, this is what the ring in question looks like up close:
