As you’re well aware, Kim Kardashian is now married to Kris Humphries. While we won’t get to see the wedding in its entirety until the four-hour E! special airs in October, we do know quite a few details. Like, for example, that Kim made a pretty penny on the event.
The New York Post estimates that the reality star and her new husband made at least $17.9 million on the affair. Yes, made (not spent). How do they figure this? The couple is getting paid $15 million for the two-part TV special entitled “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event”. They sold rights to their wedding photos for $2.5 million to People, who also shelled out $300,000 for the rights to their exclusive engagement announcement. Kim and Kris also made some cash by selling rights to the bridal shower pics to OK! and getting paid to have Kim’s bacherlorette party at Tao.
Of course, they also got a whole lot of crap for free. Kim’ s Vera Wang wedding dress (plus two other Wang dresses), the Lehr & Black invitations, the Hansen’s Bakery wedding cake, Perrier Jouet champagne, and hair and makeup services were all comped. The estimate on these items alone nears $650,000. Not to mention the couple received a hefty discount on Kim’s $2 million engagement ring, as well as $1 million wedding bands from Kardashian pal Lorraine Schwartz.
Other things they very possibly didn’t pay for include the rental on Montecito’s Sotto Il Monte estate (current home of venture capitalist Frank Caulfield), extravagant $2 million floral arrangements, performances by Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire, and grub like caviar and Kobe beef burgers. And did you know they’ll be throwing yet another wedding party in New York at Capitale? Jeez.
Anyway, while we won’t be able to see pictures until People releases them later this week, we do have some intel on what was worn. Kim’s ivory gown had a “full tulle skirt, basque waist, and hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué on the bodice and train”. She had two costume changes later in the evening, both also ivory Vera Wang dresses. According to People, “the first was a Georgette mermaid gown with hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué on the bodice and a skirt with hand-cut organza petals intermixed with Chantilly lace motifs and organza sprig embroidery”, and the second was a “bias-cut crepe back satin gown with V-neck and circle skirt”. She went with Giuseppe Zanotti for footwear, and carried a Judith Lieber clutch at the reception.
Kris wore an Ermengildo Zegna tux with black pants, a white peak lapel jacket, and a white bow tie. His groomsmen (including Rob Kardashian) and the fathers of the bride and groom wore coordinating tuxes, albeit with black jackets and bow ties. Kris later changed into a black jacket and bow tie, as well. There’s no word on what the rest of the bridal party wore, but Kourtney and Khloe were the co-maids of honor, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner were bridesmaids along with Kris’s sister Kaela (yes, another K name). Kourtney’s son Mason was the ring bearer.
And just to continue the Kardashian wedding info dump, among the 440 guests were Lindsay Logan, Eva Longoria, Kathie Lee Gifford, Venus and Serena Williams, Demi Lovato, Ryan Seacrest, Avril Lavigne, and
A.C. Slater Mario Lopez.
