Lady Gaga rarely wears the same stuff as other celebrities, and, really, one would be hard pressed to find her in the same outfit as anyone else — except for that time she, Anna Dello Russo, and Kim Kardashian all wore the same houndstooth Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble. But Mother Monster totally took us by surprise with a recent appearance in the Versace safety pin dress that Elizabeth Hurley made famous back in 1994. So we’ve gotta ask: who wore it best?
The black dress features a super sexy cut-out on the side of the torso and a wide slit down the outside of the thigh, seemingly held together by large safety pins. Hurley werked the dress at her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant‘s premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. She paired it with gold jewelry and black heels, and kept her hair and makeup quite simple.
Eighteen years later, Gaga somehow managed to convince Donatella to bring that baby back out, and wore the dress in Milan on Tuesday. She styled her look with towering black platforms and gilded jewels, and topped it all off with a crimson lip and a high ponytail.
So, which lady has your pick? Check out both below, and tell us who you think wore Versace better:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
