If anyone knows the ins and outs of the modeling business, it’s Lara Stone. The 24-year-old model has done shoots and shows all over the world, so we think she’s qualified to dole out advice for up-and-comers. Tip number one: finish school before you start strutting your stuff full time.
In an interview with Mercedez Benz, Stone says that models should at least finish high school before they start getting into heavy work like what she’s done with Calvin Klein, and she also says that being yourself is the best thing you can do. That probably applies to other career tracks, too.
“You have to really try and be yourself and listen to your instincts because you are usually right about things that you do want to do and don’t want to do, and you have to be really clear with everyone about what your boundaries are. It’s important.”
Stone talks about a lot of stuff in the video below, but she starts getting all wise and stuff at the 3:34 mark. Watch.
