Lauren Bush Lauren may have just debuted her most recent collaboration for FEED, but she’s already looking forward to the next one. Last night at the Manhattan magazine-sponsored launch of the bracelets her charitable foundation produced with Links of London, Bush told us her next collaboration would be a shoe with Toms.
Bush has been supporting hungry children all over the world with various FEED collaborations over the past few years. The Links of London partnership produced five friendship bracelets with little charms on them — Bush explained to us that she collected charm bracelets as a child — each of which puts money toward a different thing. For $125, a bracelet with a water droplet charm will give one child 500 days of drinking water, while a gold leaf buys 250 school meals in areas with high rates of HIV and AIDS infection.
In the spring, Bush says her foundation, which began by donating the proceeds of the sale of its FEED bags in 2008, will work with collab-happy Toms Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie on a shoe that will “send a pair of shoes and send meals” to impoverished children who need them.
As for her lifelong collaboration with David Lauren, son of the designer Ralph who she married in September? She’s happy, but she’s not ready to start doling out advice yet “I’m two months in!” she says. “I don’t have any grand wisdom yet. Ask me again in ten years.”
Sorry, Kris Humphries. If you’d like to give a FEED bracelet as a holiday gift (don’t worry, Bush hasn’t started shopping either) you can buy one here, and you’ll find more information about the FEED Foundation here.
