There’s a reason all our favorite supermodels have been resurfacing in the glossies recently. With the exception of Cara Delevingne, they just don’t make ‘em that damn sassy any more.
Lauren Hutton might now by known for her sweet gap-toothed grin and Americana icon status, but back in the sultry summer of ’73 an interview with Candy Darling, published in the October 1973 issue of Interview magazine, paints a different picture – one of a model-turned-actress who went by Lorna, who demanded creamed tuna on toast and who could flatter one of Warhol’s sauciest Superstars into a [Long embarrassing pause]. This being the woman who once used her mouth “like a bull whip” to defend a 14-year-old Kate Moss from industry Mean Girls, it’s probably not just Candy’s conked-out air conditioner making things heat up.
And just over a decade prior, a then-19-year-old Hutton was captured in a risqué spread for Penthouse magazine. Last month 39 photographs of the model were found in the archives of late Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione, and all are being sold as part of the Guccione Collection Auction. View the obviously NSFW photos here, and revisit 1973’s hot, sultry afternoon over at Interview.
