We’ve been die-hard Lea T fans ever since we saw her in Riccardo Tisci‘s Fall 2010 ad campaign for Givenchy — and we’ve been fans of Oprah ever since we realized the woman was more or less as powerful as god. (No offense to god, of course.) So you can imagine how excited we were when we heard the transgender model would be making an appearance on an episode of Oprah’s final season.
According to ELLE.com, Lea T’s segment is scheduled to air in February, it hasn’t been taped yet, and her reps in Milan can’t comment until after the episode airs.
Lea T began her career as Tisci’s personal assistant and close friend — they met while Tisci was still in school at London’s Central St. Martin’s — and it was Tisci who encouraged her to wear heels and explore her “inherent femininity.” Lea has since been featured in Givenchy’s fall ad campaign, was the subject of a profile in Vogue Paris, and graced the cover of Lurve magazine Issue #4.
If we had to guess, we’d say that Oprah is spotlighting Lea as a part of a larger episode on transgender and transsexual role models — or perhaps even in an episode about people who are making a difference through their individuality. Either way, we love the news and can’t wait to see Lea’s daytime debut. If there’s one woman who can make Ms. T’s career, it’s Oprah.
