According to Contact Music, a source close Lagerfled claims that the designer didn’t simply find a new muse, but that Allen was dropped from the ad campaign because of her hardcore party girl image.
Faces in ad campaigns change as quickly as trends do. It’s possible Allen’s departure from Chanel could have just been a decision that changed with the new season, but one source believes otherwise.
“Karl had a show and a party, but Lily was not invited. It was Karl’s way of making it clear she is no longer a part of the Chanel family. He instructed his people not to invite her…[Karl] is very strict about who can represent the brand and there is a feeling that Lily is too much of a party girl,” the source claimed.
If you ask us, Vanessa seems a better fit for the brand all around. Lagerfeld and Paradis are truly two peas in a pod. Plus, there was something a little disconcerting about Lily Allen in a tweed skirt suit. More importantly, Chanel, almost more than any other any other line, is a brand. And with a character like Allen running around representing them all the while ranting and raving, we can only image how Unkle Karl felt.
