Linda Evangelista and François-Henri Pinault were back in family court on Friday to negotiate child support for their son, Augustin. They’ve been in and out of hearings (publicly, at least) since the supermodel announced that Pinault was the father of her child in 2011. Pinault has reportedly not paid for child support.
According to WWD, Evangelista’s lawyer William Beslow spent more than an hour questioning Pinault about his expenses. Pinault, the CEO of luxury conglomerate PPR, listed fancy purchases he made last year — like $61,660 on clothes, $32,800 on accessories, about $208,160 on a vacation, and roughly $45,535 to maintain the garden at his home in Paris (“I had to redo it because some water spilled”). All while wearing a $100,000 Tag Heuer watch.
Suffice to say, Pinault’s rollin’ in the deep.
Beslow also asked Pinault about a $12 million trust he put away for his daughter Valentina, who he had with current wife Salma Hayek. Pinault explained that Valentina doesn’t have access to the trust until she’s 21-years-old, but if something should happen to Pinault or Hayek, his daughter’s new guardian would have access to the funds for child care.
To which Beslow called Pinault a hypocrite:
“This is a person who has effectively embraced some unknown guardian…all because that other person is the custodian of his daughter. Ms. Evangelista is the guardian of his son. It’s hypocritical and inconsistent.”
