Lorde, New Zealand teen spirit-throb with impeccable taste, has just announced that she will single-handedly curate the entire soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, Part 1. She was featured on the Catching Fire album with a filthy cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” and in return for taking the backseat to Taylor Swift on that album, Lorde will also have the lead single on Mocking Jay’s soundtrack.
Said the singer/songwriter in a press release:
“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance…The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
We’re expecting to feel moody, bored with the status quo, and an inexplicable urge to don dark lipstick and commit arson after hearing it for the first time. Just a feeling.
