Louise Roe Watches Fashion Shows With ‘Two Heads On’

The first thing Louise Roe said to us after we met her at last night’s Alice + Olivia spring 2013 presentation was, “Oh my gosh, I love your necklace! Where did you get it?” We told her it was a Zara piece, but I painted over the clear rhinestones with neon nail polish. And boom, the Glamour editor-at-large’s eyes widened as if she just heard that Tom Ford was having a sample sale.

The 30-year-old Brit has been sitting pretty in the front row all week long, so we had to ask how she deals with all the hoopla of going to fashion shows. Dressed in a white jumpsuit and floral platforms, Roe’s answer was surprisingly simple: water.

“It is quite exhausting, but it’s so much fun,” she told us. “Fashion Week is like this vortex where you eat, drink, drink, and sleep — that’s it. And I think you just have to throw yourself into it. I’m trying to drink as much water as possible, which sounds really boring, but I’m downing liter bottles so I can stay hydrated. I haven’t been partying too hard, just enjoying the shows.”

She also gushed about decompressing after Fashion Week by going to the beach back in Los Angeles, where she lives, and learning how to surf this weekend. Can we tag along?

But the marathon isn’t over just yet, and as a fashionista and one of Glamour‘s top editors, Roe reveals that watching a show isn’t always fun and games. She has to keep an eye out for pieces for herself and the magazine:

“I kind of watch shows with two heads on,” she explains. “First of all, what do I love? What I might want to wear or what is so eye-catching. And secondly, what is the trend here and what’s going to be big? And I think the two are quite different sometimes, like the harnesses we’ve seen all week. That’s going to be tricky but fun to play out, and that’s definitely a trend. So it’s kind of a mix.”
