Lupita Nyong’o and Cate Blanchett are giving new meaning to the phrase “killing it,” in that the “it” they’re mercilessly slaying is every other woman on the 2014 red-carpet circuit.
We’ll always talk about Jennifer Lawrence purely because she’s Jennifer Lawrence, but come on — another Dior that’s precariously droopy in the bust? Don’t make us say a word that rhymes with schmeakup.
What we love most about our two leading ladies, then, is that they’re kind of contradictory: They’re consistent with silhouette, color, and awesomeness, but at least for this awards season, they’re the only two people with whom you really never know what you’re going to get.
Cate’s pink, sequined halter-neck gown from tonight’s SAG Awards — which we identified as a variation on this Givenchy number after seeing her MUA Jeanine Lobell’s Instagram shot — obviously made its wearer happy, and with the rosy cheeks, lips and eyes, the whole effect was pretty, pretty, pretty.
When Lupita stepped up for an interview with the hosts from the Awkward and Unprofessional Circle of hell, we could not look away from the beaded-flower neckline of her hemmed-at-the-perfect-length Gucci. The turquoise was breathtaking with her skin tone and boy, does she know how to coordinate her makeup. (Side note: How does she even find so many different ways to her hair?!)
Take in some extra shots of both looks below and tell us if there’s anyone else you got this gushy over, excepting Matthew McConaughey and Fassy, of course.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
