While we adore Marc by Marc Jacobs, its always exciting when a brand taps new talent. Today, news broke that there will be some major changes at the younger MJ label. Who will introduce us to a new era of chic wares? British designers Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley.
Hillier, who will be the new creative director, has previously launched her own line of jewelry and helped Victoria Beckham debut her eponymous handbag line. Not to mention, she has worked closely with Jacobs for years on a freelance basis.
“I am very excited to have Katie here in her new role,” Jacobs told WWD. “Her creativity and energy inspires me and everybody she works with. She is a great leader. She is a team player and a great friend to Robert [Duffy] and me.”
Bartley, the new design director of women’s ready-to-wear, is best known for her eponymous label (which folded in 2009), and designing the ‘Gisele’ bag that helped revive Mulberry’s popularity in 2002.
After doing some serious style stalking, we can say confidently that these two ladies can certainly be trusted breath new life into one of our favorite brands.
