Marc Jacobs‘ appointment at Dior may seem like a done deal, but apparently negotiations have hit a bit of a rough spot with both Jacobs and his longtime partner Robert Duffy asking for parent company LVMH to pony up what can most easily be described as a gigantic chunk of cash.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Jacobs and Duffy are asking for a salary in the “low eight figures each, plus other benefits.” At the risk of being redundant, an “eight figure” salary starts at $10 million.
The role at Dior is a big one — a huge one — to be sure, and involves adding two couture collections to Jacobs’ already full plate. He currently designs four men’s and women’s wear collections for his eponymous brand and Marc by Marc Jacobs. The Dior appointment would bring his total number of collections to twenty two, which makes the $10 million figure all of a sudden seem somewhat reasonable.
