Marc Jacobs is saying farewell for the second time, in similar fashion to his swan song show for Louis Vuitton, with the women who inspire him. Catherine Deneuve, Sofia Coppola, Gisele Bündchen, Fan Bingbing, Caroline de Maigret, and Edie Campbell star in his final campaign for the French fashion house. The ads, shot by Steven Meisel, have a similar dark shadow cast on them, but again, the LV camp insists it’s just another unorthodox celebration of Jacobs’ 16-year-tenure and his muses.
“It was a very emotional shoot, and I find this shows in the images,” Frédéric Winckler, Vuitton’s communications and events director, told WWD. “It’s not a melancholic campaign. It’s really celebrating women who inspire Marc.”
The star handbag of the ads just happens to be our favorite LV bag of all, the Noé bucket bag, which was originally designed in 1932 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton as a way of toting around bottles of champagne.
