Last month, Marchesa was discussing the possibility of launching a contemporary collection with LF USA, the same group that saved Vena Cava. Now it’s been confirmed that the two are indeed in business together.
Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig will incorporate Marchesa’s signature embroidery and prints into a contemporary line of clothing and accessories ranging between $150 and $750. The duo plan to debut the line, which is yet unnamed, in mid-2013. Chapman explains to WWD:
“It’s going to be under the Marchesa umbrella, but with a slightly different feel. We have been so specific for such a long time, and the idea to broaden out to a different consumer, and to our same consumer as well. We haven’t really looked at that market yet. My dream is to give Marchesa many facets, and that’s just one of them.”
