Mariah Carey Nails A Collaboration With O.P.I

Mariah Carey signed on as the newest American Idol judge in late July, and now she’s inked a deal with OPI. Well, it was only a matter of time before the endorsements and collabs started rolling in.

After giving birth to twins last year and spending some quality time with her family, Carey is stepping back into the spotlight as an American Idol judge, and is also reportedly working on a brand spankin’ new album. In her spare time, Carey is collaborating with OPI on two collections launching next year, reports WWD. The songstress’s last foray into fashion was with HSN back in 2010 — remember those hilarious appearances?

The first collection will include eight shades and will drop at OPI retailers in January, and a second line is already in the works. There’s no word yet on the color range, but WWD mentions that Carey likes nude, metallic, and pastel hues, so you can imagine what the first collection might look like. She explains to WWD:

“I actually went to beauty school in 11th grade so I could have something to fall back on, so believe me, I’ve done my share of manicures as well as getting them. OPI knows that the polish you use makes a big difference not only in the look, but in the care of your nails and that’s why I believe in the brand.”

OPI seems like an obvious choice for a celeb going the nail polish route — the company has worked with Justin Bieber, the Kardashians, and the Muppets. So at least Carey is in good company, or something.
