Who knew one person’s wardrobe could be so lucrative? After her iconic white dress from from The Seven Year Itch sold for millions this summer, another dress Marilyn Monroe wore has brought home a pretty hefty sum.
The Associated Press reports that the dress Monroe wore to sing “I’m Gonna File My Claim” in the 1954 movie River Of No Return went for over half a million dollars — $504,000, to be exact. It went to a private buyer in China who must absolutely love the movie — considering she only sings in the for about two minutes, that’s a whole lot of very pretty pennies.
But maybe that’s the sort of poetic thing about this dress. In the movie, Monroe played a gambler’s wife, so maybe this dress represents some sort of final, symbolic, big money win? Watch the dress (and Monroe) in action below.
