Boston tends to get a bad rap, fashion-wise. But last night there was not a North Face in sight at the opening of Mario Testino‘s first-ever stateside museum show, which drew Anna Wintour, Hamish Bowles, Karlie Kloss and many more all the way from NYC to Beantown. (How glamorous must that Fung Wah bus trip have been?)
The Boston Museum of Fine Arts will open to the public Sunday two separate exhibits displaying iconic pieces from the celebrated photographer’s body of work: Mario Testino: In Your Face and Mario Testino: British Royal Portraits. The former will be a collection of fashion photography, party snaps, celebrity portraits, and more, while the latter will focus on his photographs of the royal family from the 1970s until today.
Last night, some of the ladies and gents immortalized in these very pictures came out to take in the shows — alas, not the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, though they are the subject of the exhibition catalog’s cover shot. Boston-dweller Gisele was joined by quite the model contingent (Karlie, Erin Wasson, Alessandra Ambrosio), all of whom seemed to have received the same memo: all black everything.
Wintour, meanwhile, wore straight-off-the-runway Spring 2013 Prada — but before you get too excited, no, she did not swap out her ever-present Manolo Blahnik mules for the tabi-socked platforms.
Check out the photos from the evening (and a pair from the exhibition) below. We’re pretty sure you’ll be wanting to join us on a trip to Massachusetts pretty soon:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
