How ‘Chaos To Couture’ Translated On Tonight’s Met Gala Red Carpet

The livestream of the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala has just ended, as Beyoncé strolled in (party can’t start ’til she walks in).

There were some highs (Donatella Versace paying homage to her brother in spikes) and some lows (Kim Kardashian looking not un-like upholstery), and we’ve been logging every single look right here.

Anne Hathaway showed up in an archival Valentino dress from 1992 that could be described as side-boob city (and way more punk than a lot of the gowns that graced the red carpet). But, for a star who’s gotten more than her fair share of red carpet flack, we think she nailed the evening’s theme.

“I took the chaos thing as far as the couture would allow,” She explained. “My nails don’t match my eyes, don’t match the dress.” And yet, it all works perfectly.

See the ladies we loved, the guys who got it right (Baz Luhrmann nailed it, literally, with a black manicure), and the folks who have to step it up by after party time on our slideshow post linked below.
